Biography

Miriam Garza-Lee is a proud Texan and first generation Mexican-American, which exposed her to the strife immigrant families face. She speaks English and Spanish fluently.

Mrs. Garza-Lee received a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Arlington. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University School of Law. While in law school, she was involved with the Texas A&M Immigrant Rights Clinic and the Immigration Law Initiative. She also interned with Catholic Charities of Dallas. Her volunteer work and internship allowed her to develop an understanding of asylum, special immigrant juvenile status, DACA, and family petitions. During her second year of law school, she served as a research fellow for Professors Richard Delgado and Jean Stefancic as part of the Texas A&M Institute for Advanced Study; the fellowship involved researching critical race theory, which explores the treatment of minorities throughout legal procedures.

Mrs. Garza-Lee lives in Duncanville with her husband and puppy. In her spare time, she enjoys diving into various arts and crafts projects, including painting and home décor.
