Oscar Jesus Mendoza earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Dallas in Dallas, Texas. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Mendoza started his career in immigration law by working as a legal assistant from 2009 to 2010 in Dallas, Texas prior to attending law school. He worked with a Dallas area immigration advocate who allowed him to experience a passion for the rights of immigrants and alleviating their difficulties.  He participated in know your rights presentations in service to the Dallas area immigrant community and he also helped create a case management system for a Dallas area firm to better serve the Dreamers when the DACA program initiated in 2012. Since earning his law degree, he has represented clients in immigration matters for about four years. He has appeared multiple times on television to speak about immigration issues.  He also finds value in supporting the immigrant community by continuing to participate in local community events, like know your rights presentations and DACA clinics.

Prior to joining Chavez & Valko, Mr. Mendoza worked in a Dallas area firm and then a non-profit legal organization which focused on deportation defense, asylum, special immigrant juvenile status, adjustment of status, citizenship and naturalization, and deferred action (DACA).

Mr. Mendoza is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas. He is also fluent in Spanish.

“I am the General Counsel for a global internet security company. I have been working with Martin and his team for over three years on immigration matters including permanent residence, intracompany-transferee, investor’s, and H-1B matters. My experience has been outstanding. Martin or anyone in the firm always respond promptly and professionally. I usually work on very tight deadline and Martin and his team have always helped us achieve our goals. In my experience in comparison to working with other immigration lawyers, Chavez & Valko makes the complicated and burdensome process feel like a breeze. I would recommend Chavez & Valko to anyone who wants precision, promptness and professionalism.”

– Alexandra Albro, General Counsel, ESET ESET
